Long awaited Pune Metro work starts in 15 days on the PCMC main building to Range Hills stretch.MAHA-METRO managing director Brijesh Dixit stated with Pune Mirror that they have handed over geotechnical data to the company to cross verify the data and start work. The work would start from Dr Ambedkar Chowk, near to PCMC main building, for which traffic would be composed on the main roads.
Hydrabad based company Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) has got the contract for the 10.75 km long stretch of Pune Metro,which has roped in 7 other companies. NCC is also the same company that is working on Nagpur Metro Project.Out of total 8 bidders NCC got the contract and MAHA-METRO has been given 28 months to complete the stretch of 10.75 km from PCMC main building to Range Hills. The total estimate for this work is 499 crore.
MAHA-METRO official said the work would start by constructing pillars on main road of the metro route. MAHA-METRO chose this stretch cause it has no complication in beginning the work such as land acquisition and other issues. Officials also said they would not be cutting any trees at the beginning and once the route work is commenced they would plant more than 1500 trees on a land acquired in Wagholi and Panchgaon-Parvati Hills.
