So, if you are looking for some effective tips to make your home more recyclable as well as ecological, then you have come to the right page.

Here is a list of few interesting ways how you can make your home eco-friendly-

Green Building Material: Concrete is the basic material used in construction of homes, apartments, bridges, and sidewalks, but the production of commercial concrete material releases greenhouse gas (CO2) into atmosphere which is a major factor in climate change. So, to avoid its impact on the environment it is recommended to use Green Building Materials. For example, Straw Bale building  material is used to create home walls while Grasscrete is another method of laying concrete flooring, walkways and driveways.  Hemp Crete is a material similar to concrete made from woody inner fibbers of the hemp plant.  These are the modern eco friendly home products to Go Green on environment and make eco friendly home designs. Green buildings are also designed to reduce impact on environment and human health.

Benefits of green Buildings: By using green building practices, we can take maximum benefits of environment and economic performances. Green construction materials, if used while construction provides significant benefits, as it helps in reducing water wastage, improving air as well as water quality and protects ecosystem. Apart from this green building construction reduces operating cost, and creates market for green building products and services.

The basic goal of Green Building is to improve the sustainability of earth. Once you decide to Go Green, you will help sustain the environment  without damaging the natural climate and habitat.

Get your furniture made of recyclable items- This is one of the most effective ways how you can take your endeavour a step ahead. Furniture made of biodegradable items are easily available in market and if you are in search of cheap and affordable fixtures, opting for recycled materials would be the wisest act on your part.

Use locally sourced building material- Try to use locally sourced building materials as much as you can. What’s the point of carting in the materials from kilometres and miles away, when you can get them just at your reach? Make the local tradesmen involved in it and take recourse to a holistic approach.

Water based natural paint- Try to avoid oil-based painting as much as you can. Most of the paints available in the market are full of artificial pigments, making them less energy-efficient. However, water-based natural paints are made of natural tincture and thus, are more attractive as well as eco-friendly.

Let the sunlight in- Don’t you think, closing the window blinds during day time is a creepy idea? According to a number of surveys, 10% energy gets saved on heating and thus, you are always advised to let the sunlight in as much as you can and contribute in the course of making your home eco-friendly.

Dappled fridges- In case, you have kept your refrigerator in a place that is quite exposed to sunlight, it’s time for you to change its position. Having your fridge in sunlight will make it to utilize more energy to remain cool. Thus, always make sure that it is kept in the shade.

Use microwave- They say that around 50% less energy is saved while cooking in micro-oven. Thus, try not to use the conventional ovens and switch to microwave for the great interest. Also, stop checking on the foods every now and then. This way, you can save a lot of energy and play an active role in saving the environment.

Never forget to turn the tap off- Well, it may seem to you as a petty concern; but, as per a recent research, around 182 litres of water get wasted per week from a permeable tap and you can easily imagine the figure if you continue with the habit of not turning it off every time you use it. Be a little conscious and always remember to ramp off the tap.

Also, with the Govt putting greater emphasis on green and efficient buildings, no permission will be given for constructions that are not in terms with the norms. Thus, time has come to comply with the norms of green building and make your home as energy efficient as you can.
